Your CharaChorder may have shipped with older firmware that is not the latest version.

This device is in such a rapid point of development that updating your firmware will make sure you have all the best features, keyboard shortcuts, and bug fixes.

It’s recommended that all new users check their firmware version and update their CharaChorder if a new version is available.

The process is straightforward and easy to do.

How to check your firmware version

Option 1: In Chord Manager

  1. Go to Chord Manager using a Chromium based browser (or one that supports the serial api) (https://launchpad.charachorder.com/#/manager)

  2. Connect your CharaChorder to your device

  3. Click “Connect”

  4. Your firmware version will display near the top of your screen, such as 0.8.2:

Option 2: Use the GTM (added in 0.8.2)

  1. Wherever text can be typed, chord both pinkies up to access the GTM (Generative Text Menu)

  2. Press >S< for Settings

  3. Press >V> for Version

  4. Your version should display in the text box

(If you attempt this but you do not see the Version option, you are using an old version of the firmware and should update.)
